Red Rock MCPA Chubb House

Preserving the past... with a vision for the future

The mission of the Martin County Preservation Association is to preserve and make available two historic venues which enrich the community through arts and culture.

Whether you’re a weekend visitor or a long time resident, discover how you can experience history at its finest.
The MCPA offers a variety of opportunities at each of their following two locations.

Red Rock Center Red Rock Center for the Arts is a community art center bringing people together to enjoy, grow, learn and create. Nestled within this beautifully restored 1898 building you will find a visual art display, a performing arts center, and an art studio with is also used for meetings and small gatherings. We welcome you to enjoy a live performance, explore the visual arts or take a class and create. It’s all here and waiting just for you. Visiting Red Rock Center for the Arts is FREE. Come and see why our members call the Red Rock Center for the Arts “the gemstone of the community”!

Red Rock Center is also available to rent for that special occasion.

Chubb House Built in 1867, the Chubb House is the oldest residence standing in Fairmont, and the only of the town's houses known to have been built with brick from Fairmont's first brickyard. It was the home of prominent homesteader Orville Chubb, who was the community's first physician. The house is an example of a property associated with the early Yankee American development of southern Minnesota town sites.

Visit our history page to learn more about this fascinating house and the people who lived here.

Today the furnished Chubb House still holds its warmth and charm, and is available for private and group tours by appointment. There are several events open to the public including a Spring Tea, Lamplight Stew Dinner, and a Christmas Tea.
